Jim Maguire, Sergio and Pedro talk cheese at Farmers Market

Say “Cheese”: Jim Maguire, public defender by day (Maguire & Ashbaugh), doubles as a farmer in his off time. Jim and his wife Christine have made quite a name in culinary circles with their Rinconada Dairy, a specialty sheep cheese making operation in Santa Margarita. The Maguires have now added cultured chickens to their product line. Find the goods – and Jim – at the SLO Saturday morning Farmer’s Market … She’s our own rare find: Shell beach resident Judy Watkins has a magical, Martha-like touch when it comes to showcasing antiques, collectibles and beautiful things. Remnants of the Past, Judy’s it-only-happens-twice-a-year show, brings together exhibitors from all over the country and is on for Oct.10 at the Dana Powers House in Nipomo. A portion of proceeds are donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Grab a friend and make a delightful day of it … A fabulous green convergence is heading towards Santa Maria, where Windset Farms of Canada has plans for the city’s first hydroponic greenhouse operation. The large scale greenhouse and produce packing operation will enable year-round production and marks Windset’s first foray into the United States. Local team members guiding the project are Laurie Tamura of Urban Planning Concepts and Kevin Morris of Andre, Morris & Buttery law firm … RRM Design President Erik Justesen is the keynote speaker at tomorrow’s SOFTEC Symposium and Vendor Expo at 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Embassy Suites … It’s a family fight: Takken’s Shoes VP Cris Takken and his family are participating in the annual Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk in San Francisco on Sunday. The Takken team will be joined by Cris’ mother-in-law Mary, who is battling stage IV breast cancer … See the Central Coast through the eyes of a gifted photographer.
