Big news in the Big Apple: money master Bob Wacker of R.E. Wacker Associates was one of only six financial planners chosen by the Wall Street Journal to convene in New York for a panel interview on the economy. Story in today’s WSJ … It was a packed house at PG&E’s press conference announcing Diablo Canyon’s relicensing plans, with attendees including California Superintendent of Public Education Jack O’Connell, County assessor Tom Bordonaro, County Superintendent of Schools Julian Crocker, San Luis Coastal’s superintendent Ed Valentine and board member John Spatafore and other business and community leaders … Besides great food, diners at Chow near the Fremont Theater will enjoy an elegant interior. Cabinetry and the dramatic Shoji screen framing the Tatami Room were designed and built by local contractor Bob McDonald, working with John Colgan and crew to create the pieces … After eleven years at South County Realty, 37-year veteran real estate pro Loal Lorenzen has moved to Allen Real Estate Investments … Get well wishes to computer guru Geoff Lillich of Sentinel Network Systems, recovering in Southern California following heart surgery. Geoff’s whiz kid colleague Nic Orrben is keeping systems humming.

The piece, created by artist Cain Lopez, a Shandon High graduate, pays tribute to Studios on the Park’s building at 1130 Pine Street, home to a Hudson/Packard dealership in the 40’s and 50’s and then an auto parts store for over 40 years … Cal Poly is fresh with holiday gifts. Congratulations to Mission Community Bank, whose Santa Maria branch is celebrating its first anniversary … Inspiring is the word for the KLIFE Radio’s recent Community Impact Awards dinner honoring Jack’s Helping Hands, Jim Sargen, Beverly Aho and Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. Videos noting the contributions of the honorees and a moving presentation by SLO Fire Chaplain Mike Ward made for a powerful evening … Delicious news: the Tribune’s Bill Morem placed a spotlight on Organic B.R.A.T.’s “ah-ha” business moment in today’s edition … Former Cuesta President Grace Mitchell’s recent move to Novato is a loss for SLO, but a nice win for the town where Maggie Cox grew up, and where her dad, who served as mayor, still lives. Something tells us Grace won’t be a newcomer for long.
