Former PG&E exec and current Tribune “As We See It” columnist Missie Hobson’s tenacious spirit (and dedicated family and great friends) have carried her through surgery and a grueling series of breast cancer chemo treatments. She tackles radiation in March. The smart money’s on Missie to show this disease who’s boss. Celebration plans when treatment’s complete? ”I’m going to Disneyland.” … Kitty Arosteguy, the enterprising owner of Spa Central Coast, has opened a wine bar next to the spa at 6155 El Camino in Atascadero. Kitty calls it “Haven” and the name fits. Local wines, a tasty bistro menu, overstuffed chairs and a 12-week-old St. Bernard puppy make it a cozy spot.

Bravo! … Economic powerhouse Diablo Canyon Power Plant has filed a request with the NRC for license extensions for each of its two reactors, currently permitted to 2024 and 2025. The next round of NRC meetings in SLO unfolds March 3. Kelsey Magnusen
Kelsey Magnusen covers a lot of ground. The Cal Poly student interns with us at BCA, manages marketing for the Mustang Daily, leads the Cal Poly chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and broadcasts as “Kelsey the intern” alongside Tom Keffury on KJUG Thursday and Friday mornings. Oh yeah, and she’s a public relations student, too …
We extend our condolences to Rob and Laurie Rossi and family over the loss of Rob’s mom, Mary Rossi, an elegant, caring woman who did much for the community of Avila Beach (among many other contributions).
