BCA's interactive expert Isaac Horton

This week we share two Web sites that showcase both web talent and the businesses they’re promoting. Local CPA Glenn Norris worked with Todd Peterson of Red Canary to put a fun spin on the wild world of accounting. Check out the home & staff pages … And we get to brag about our own interactive expert Isaac Horton’s amazing e-commerce design and programming work for Impact Absorbents, an Atascadero manufacturer who boasts an international clientele. Takeaways: business is vibrant here and top notch web talent abounds. Keep it local.

Steve Newell set a gold standard in proclaiming support for Canada

Randy Flamm and his team at IQMS had a big week recently. The Paso Robles software design company hosted a visit from Congressman Kevin McCarthy, then Randy talked (business) turkey as a panel member at the 2010 Central Coast Business Symposium hosted by Andre, Morris & Buttery and co-sponsored by BCA … Speaking of the symposium, entrepreneurship expert Jon York of Cal Poly’s Orfalea College of Business dished up a lively session in conversation with Randy, Ty Safreno (Trust Automation) and Steve Newell (Windset Farms). High marks all around. Favorite anecdote: Steve’s tale of Santa Maria Mayor Larry Lavagnino good naturedly palming a bat and asking what it would take to land the Windset greenhouse in Santa Maria instead of Camarillo. Decision Santa Maria. Favorite visual: Vancouver resident Steve’s wardrobe choice.

GOOD WORKS

Talk about customer connection: Lemos Feed and Pet Supply has posters in every one of 14 store locations offering customers a phone number to call with concerns, complaints or compliments. Here’s the kicker: calls ring to owner Mike Lemos’ HOME phone number! Mike personally responds to each and every one of his customer’s calls. Could there be a better way to let customers know Lemos is a local hometown business that really cares? We don’t think so.
