BRAGGING RIGHTS

Major kudos to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center for being one of only eight hospitals throughout the United States to win the 2010 Tenet Corporation “Circle of Excellence” honor. The award is given for hospitals achieving the highest levels of quality, service and operational performance … A lot of words that add up to “top dog” – Framberger Employee Benefits and Insurance Services, Inc. owner Connie Framberger was named Lifetime Qualifier for the Golden Eagle Award for the Leading Producers Round Table. The award, given by the National Association of Health Underwriters, is the group’s highest achievable award … RRM Design Group’s Whittier Greenway Trail is something special. The project recently nabbed two prestigious honors: an Award of Excellence from the California Parks and Recreation Society and the Merit Award, the highest recognition extended by the California Trails and Greenways Conference.

Baby Lola Ciufo, and Nick and Kacey Ciufo

One month to go to SLO County Hunger Awareness Day on June 3. It’s one of BCA’s best-loved causes. We knock ourselves out to help raise “one dollar one day” and boy, we can use your help. Pass the hat, send an e-mail, text to donate, write a check – we’ve got lots of ideas for how you can make it happen. Can you join us? E-mail mcox@barnettcox.com … We’ve got a knack for finding talent: Spring quarter BCA writing intern and Cal Poly student Alisha Axsom wrote a terrific piece for the Mustang Daily a year ago about a dynamic student leader in charge of the University Union Art Gallery: none other than Kristin Savage, another BCA intern and now a prized employee … Two great pieces of happy news: 80th birthday greetings to Clifford Chapman, one of the true jewels of the Central Coast. And a warm welcome to Baby Lola Ciufo, daughter of Nick and Kacey Ciufo. The then-Kacey Ampi worked for BCA and has since expanded her life to include a husband, a teaching credential and motherhood (in that order).

BREAKING NEWS

May 4th, 2010

Great news we just can’t wait to share: Mission Community Bank CEO Anita Robinson has built a bank based in financial savvy and a fierce commitment to the local community. That tradition continues with the announcement of a new member of the board of directors who readily shares MCB’s vision – Jim Lokey, former president of Rabobank. Jim will work with Anita and MCB President Brooks Wise to lead Mission Community Bank in a significant central coast expansion. Jim will succeed North Coast rancher and former County Supervisor Bill Coy as executive chairman of the board. Bill will move to vice chair, replacing current Vice Chair Roxanne Carr, who is retiring from the board following 13 years of service that began with the bank’s founding in 1997. As for Jim and Anita, not only are they banking colleagues and longtime friends, but each also held the president position at the California Banking Association. In fact, Anita passed the gavel to Jim when her term ended and his began in 2008. Kudos and thanks to Roxanne for her service, welcome back to community banking, Jim, and congratulations to Anita and her board for a fine find.
