Honors: to Ermina Karim, who with less than a year under her belt as SLO Chamber President and CEO was honored with the Western Association of Chamber Exec’s prestigious Russell “Rusty” Hammer award, given to an exec who “exemplifies excellence and professionalism and demonstrates potential as a future industry executive.” Ermina was one of a dozen nominees selected from the best of the best in the western United States…And then there’s Ron Yukelson, who you think of as the go-to guy for Sierra Vista, but who in a former life was such a fabulous sports information officer at Cal State Northridge (and their first fulltimer in that position), that he was inducted into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame last weekend. The SoCal native still has sports in his blood. Central Coast Economic Forecast Coordinator Susan Yamashiro, she who keeps the program humming, is in demand for her event production talents. She was recently the concierge for VIP’s at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, where she made acquaintance with Santa Barbara resident Dr. Larry Martinez, film buff, Cal State Long Beach poli sci whiz, frequent guest on the Dave Congalton show, and, most importantly, son of Cuesta College founding president (and local fave) Dr. Frank Martinez.
