BCA BLURB

December 15th, 2011

Andrea Blanco is the secret Santa at Laguna Middle School who puts on a fabulous holiday party for local Latino families. BCA loves to help. When this year’s need grew to over 250 kids, we called in some elves from Duggan, Smith & Heath law firm, RRM Design, Jim & Elaine Gardiner, Marcy Villa and David Fosse, Sharon Young and Thoma Electric. The gang pulled it together, wrapped and delivered the goods. We extend a giant FYI thanks for the teamwork and generosity.

GOOD WORKS

November 11th, 2011

The holidays are here and with them some fun ideas for gift giving that also helps local causes. Monday, Nov. 14 is the last day to order poinsettias from Transitions Mental Health (through their fabulous Growing Grounds program) and the following Monday, Nov. 21 is the deadline for Christmas tree orders. 540-6594 for poinsettia information and 543-6071 for trees. Delivery available … and the creative folks at Bayside Care Center and Casa de Flores are baking up healthy dog biscuits ($10 for 2 dozen) with a giving-begets-giving twist: proceeds from sales benefit the Seniors Saving Seniors (SSS) program. The funds raised underwrite adoption costs for senior dogs at Woods Humane Society. Read more – and help out – at www.baysidecarecenter.com … Kudos to CASA, whose recent country club fundraiser raised $78,000 for local kids in need.

BCA BLURB

November 11th, 2011

Christmas came early for a recent TV commercial produced in SLO by BCA for the Parable Group’s network of U.S. stores. Red Canary provided shooting and editing for the commercial that will hit the air nationwide in late November. Local talent, Eden Haga, won the casting call that sought a little girl to star in the story … BCA fan, businesswoman and can’t-help-bragging – Maggie Cox’s sister – Diane Henderson, returned recently from a surgical mission in Nagamangala in Southern India. Diane, a land use planner by profession and immediate past president of the rotary Club of San Rafael, was part of a Rotary contingent in India performing surgeries on children suffering from burns and cleft palates. Diane is pictured here with one young patient whose face left side and ear were reconstructed. Diane shared some of her moving observations with us. Read this short narrative with photos.
