Thoma Electric Company has earned many accolades over the years for impeccable electric design and construction, generous community support and for being one great company. It’s nice to see the news spread over three counties as it did this week when Pacific Coast Business Times selected Thoma Electric to receive the Spirit of Small Business Award in San Luis Obispo County. Congratulations to the Thoma team, especially present day chiefs Bill and Ed, and the company’s dedicated founders, parents Bud and Pearl Thoma … Congratulations to first time grandpa, Wade McKinney, Atascadero CAO whose gorgeous granddaughter Hannah was the centerpiece of a recent five-generation photo. Son Jay, and daughter-in-law Courtney, are the proud parents. Wade is happy to share photos.

The video was shot in Montaña de Oro State Park and features yoga instructor Ahmed Fahmy and a group of little local yogis.

Please send an e-mail to let us know you’d like to help … A name to note and a guy to get to know: Jonathan York heads the Entrepreneurship program at Cal Poly and has a team of students on the move creating an Entrepreneurship Club. Good things to follow … Speaking of entrepreneurship, how’s this for the Central Coast at its best: Tireless North County volunteer Susan Jones (Midland Pacific Homes) told us about Teens at Work, a program that takes at-risk middle school age kids and train them in every aspect of business operation. The Teens make products to sell, including a fun line of Scrabble-tile jewelry, baked goods and greeting cards, and they’re paid for their work. Find out more.
